Playdate

Cason had some of his friends over for a playdate. He had a great time. It was his first co-ed party and it took a lot of convincing for me to let him have an older woman there. They were all on their best behavior and Carsyn even taught the boys about sharing.

There's Logan and Cason.
Look at Carsyn's rockin baby legs. So cute!!!

Carsyn and Logan are talkin about their weeks.

Cason and Logan are eying the rocket toy.

Lincoln's observing the action.

I like this whole "playdate" thing. Moms get to talk, babies get to play. Good Times.

6 months came... and went....

Cason turned 6 months while we were on vacation last month and I had great intentions of acknowledging it on my blog... but just didn't get around to it. So, to catch you up:
At his 6 month appointment Cason's stats were:
27.5" (75%)
17 lbs (25-50%)
43.8 head (50%)
So, he's pretty much perfect :-) (Yes, i know that's what every mom says)
Between 6 and 7 months he can now sit up on his own and doesn't fall over very much. He can stand holding on to something for a little while. Can't crawl yet. He can scoot a little bit but that's about it. I'm not worried about it, when he starts crawling i have to start chasing so take your time buddy. I need to start baby proofing the house for when he does start crawling.... any tips?
Here are some photos to catch you up...
My friend Courtney let Cason borrow a jumperoo. This is his first time trying it out. It didn't take long for him to be bouncing away.

He got some new clothes. I got him a football hoodie... but it is brown and blue!

He's a mover and a shaker and sometimes the crib is just too small to contain him. He didn't seem to mind his foot was hanging out. He kept playing and talking.

Love those chunky legs!

C loves the iphone just as much as his daddy. I don't let him chew on it anymore though because after this, i couldn't hear the person on the other end quite as good as i used to.

Quick update

If you haven't heard the whole household is sick right now. Mike and I have some sort of allergy weather changing cold junk and Cason is sick with respatory issues again. Not contagious sick but wake up multiple times in the middle of the night screaming have some more breathing treatments sick. We also learned from the doc that this respatory stuff may be something we have to deal with until he grows out of, whenever that is or it could turn into ashma. Not the greatest news.

As usual, to cope with our illnesses I turned to starbucks and target. Cason and I ran to target tonight to pick up his perscription but it takes 15 minutes to fill the perscription so I had that l had that long to drown my sorrows in the clearance rack. One perscription and a pair of red shoes, 3 candlesticks, diapers, starbucks, cornbread, and dog treats later we got home. Ugh, bein sick is hard on my wallet.

I tried Cason sitting in the cart like a big boy and I think he liked it. I looked like a total dork cause my cart cover is a little much. I'm going to start looking for one of those elastic ones.

P.s. I wrote this on my phone and I am not going to go back and check spelling so don't go all english teacher on me. Lil C is in the tub so I have to focus on him too.

New outfit

Many of casons clothes are purchased for my enjoyment, not his. He makes me laugh when he's in cute outfit such as below.

Cason also got to play with his friend Jack yesterday. I'm pretty sure they loved their playdate. To top it off, the girls went shopping and the men watched the babies. Talk about a great sat afternoon!

Va-cay- Part 1- The Throne of Crying

Don't be fooled by this sweet face like I was.

We got out the new carseat for our trip to Alabama. It's a forward and rear facing carseat that we could have used from the beginning but like most people, we preferred the ease of the carseat you can carry around. But, in my great wisdom, I thought lil C would prefer the big comfortable carseat in a 10 hour drive than the uncomfortable carryable carseat. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Trip started around 6:00 AM on a Sunday morning. My mom, Mike, Cason and I were all in one car with everything we owned. We were excited to begin our fun car drive of singing and sightseeing and playing with the baby. The sweet smiley face lasted about an hour. Then there was sleeping for about another hour. Hey, this wasn't too bad. No sweat. We were making good time and our biggest problem was locating a Starbucks on the highway in East Texas. They are hard to find there.

After nap #1 it started. The crying. Crying and screaming. Back to crying. We took turns attempting to entertain him. We rotated seats during the 15 stops we had on our journey. We stopped to eat, to let him eat, to get around and walk around, to go to the bathroom, or just to get out of the car and scream ourselves. Without fail, the minute we lifted him out of the carseat a big smile and it was as if nothing was wrong. Back in the carseat, back to screaming.

Our 10 hour car drive took over 13 hours. It was horrible. I can't sugar coat it. Nothing about it was fun. My mom was regretting inviting us on the trip and I was wishing I could be in the dentists office getting a root canal or something else more fun.

We tried all kinds of things to stop the crying. We tried singing- itsy bitsy spider was sung by the whole car, in 3 part harmony, as a round, for an hour. That worked a bit. Tapping on the sunroof worked too. Why? Don't know. He liked to stare out the sunroof but only if someone was tapping on it. Your arm gets tired tapping on a sunroof. One thing that worked quite well was opening the window by him. Flying down the highway at 70 miles per hour with a window open. VERY loud, VERY much didn't care because he was quiet and happy.

Eventually we arrived at the house after the sun had gone down. So much for an evening stroll on the beach. The house was beautiful but we didn't care at that point. We could have been staying in a cardboard box on the beach and we would have been happy as long as we were out of the car.
We spent the next day looking for flights home.
The next day 2 tiny white teeth push through. Could that have caused all the crying? Surely not 10 hours of crying. We will never know.
All that to say it didn't take me long to realize that traveling with a baby is much different than I could have imagined.
More to come.

Glitter Makes Everything Better!

Much later than planned I got my fall decorations out. Yes, they were out the day after the calender says it's fall, but the calender has it wrong. The true first day of fall is when you see the "pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks" sign. I saw it on September 1st therefore I knew it was the first day of fall and therefore time to put up the decorations. Unfortunately, I got behind.

All this rambling on and you would think my house would be covered in pumpkins... but I actually only have a few decorations, but I like them a lot. I still need to buy some pumpkins. Today at a store I saw some white pumpkins that they had drawn swirls on with a black sharpie and it was so cute. I'm going to do that.

Here's the dining table (with the new rug) and it's all ready for fall. Someone please come over and have dinner with us so we can use this table!

In the kitchen I set out the Halloween decorations. I think Halloween is fun so I got some new stuff at Target this year. New chargers for the table. Yes, that's a skull. No, I don't think it's scary. It's glittered. Nothings scary when glittered. :-) Mike thinks I'm crazy but I don't care.

That's a black pumpkin covered in glitter. Awesome. I was way too excited when I found that. I've had that tray for awhile and didn't know how to use it. I think it works well here.

More glittered skulls. I think they are smiling.

And you guessed it, this is glittered too! Special thanks to Target for realizing the wonderfulness of glitter!

So much to say, so little time.

There's been a lot going on and I write many blogs in my head but haven't had time to get them into the computer. Get excited, good stuff is coming. In a nutshell, here's what's been going on:

Last week we went to Gulf Shores, AL for vacation. Very fun with the exception of the drive up there and back.

Cason got teeth.

Cason got RSV.

I had an emotional breakdown trying to get his medicine since the ability to function as a rational human being left my body when the baby came.

Work is busy.

The house is a mess.

I got some new halloween decorations.

I'm late putting out fall decorations- not good.

I tried to kick my starbucks additiction but I lost. I need it to survive new drama and this week it was RSV.

ALL the data on my phone is erased and won't come back by hooking it up to itunes. Iphone supporters don't even try and tell me how easy it is to do, my computer and phone aren't compatable- i've tried everything- it aint going to happen.

I can't seem to shake sinus/congestion junk.

I think I might loose my mind.

See.... teeth!

Finally.... a finished project :-)

I believe I started this project about a year ago and finally finished a couple of weeks ago.

This is what my makeup table looked like before.

And this is what it looks like now.

There's no brilliant design going on here. There are a ton of magazines or TV shows that suggest similar solutions to their jewelry so I can't take any design credit. Mike was thrilled that I put a bunch of holes in the wall but they are tiny nails and it's in the closet. What took a year? Well, i got about 1/2 way done and then had a baby and stuff like that. Yea for being done with a project!

Something new

Carseat! It's a beast but I think he likes it. We got it out for our long drive to gulf shores and are seeing how he likes it. I kept the other carseat in my car so now I have two. Question. We have the big one behind the passenger seat but that means the passenger seat has to sit pretty far forward. Can I put it in the middle? If you have Had the big one in the middle did you like it? I have to say, I'm already ready to be done with carseats so not really looking forward to keeping him in one until he's 16 or whatever the new age is.

Keep Rollin Rollin Rollin

Cason loves to roll and I love to take pictures of him rolling. He made it all around the office one day. It's funny watching him discover that rolling will take him places.

Good Job Cason! :-)

New Heading

As you probably have noticed, I have a new heading! I found a link on how to create one and in the course of a few minutes every day for a week, I made one too! You might be confused at the sub-title "My Life Surrounded by Boys". I haven't talked about that much before but it's true. I live with 4 boys: Mike, Champ, Charger and now Cason. I always pictured that I would have cute girl dogs with pink bows and painted nails and rhinestone collars... and I really thought I would have a baby girl with ruffled bloomers and huge bows who would have tea with me and do ballet with me in her pink room... but God has a sense of humor so I'm surrounded by boys- and I can't imagine it any other way!

Now I need a new background. Anyone know how to create your own?? Leave a comment if you have a link to that.
